Food Storage Tips
VACUUM SEALING YOUR FOOD
Prepare yourself for a backpacking trip or create a safe food storage system by vacuum sealing your bulk dehydrated food into the portion sizes that work for you.
Vacuum seal your food immediately after it's arrival to your home. Our food comes fresh and very dry to your door. It is your responsibility to seal it fresh for your self.
If you are placing your food in buckets, don't vacuum seal your food flat. By making round cylindrical tube-like food packets, your bucket will be stocked most efficiently.
Stock each bucket with a variety of dehydrated vegetables and spices. Our potato dices are extremely delicious and are a great form of starches in the days to come. 20# of dehydrated potatoes for just $89.95. Remember, these are dehydrated. One ounce of dehydrated diced potatoes will hydrate to 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes!
Make use of all the nooks and crannies that are left around your vacuum sealed food. Did you pack the salt and the garlic granules?
Add oxygen absorber packets to your buckets and mallet on the tops!
LABEL AND DATE YOUR FOOD
Always, always, always label and date your food. Even date the small items you buy locally, because this will be the knowledge you need to rotate your food.
Your cans will rust. Store your food vacuum sealed in buckets, without oxygen if you can. With your canned food, a simple date on the top is the key to rotating the food safely.
ROTATE YOUR FOOD
This is the fun part. EAT what you stored. By creating a food storage rotational system, you will honor the food by imbibing it, and you will notice any items you need more of.
By eating the whole grains, beans and vegetables you store, you will be healthier, happier, and will be cooking for yourself in a nurturing and nourishing way.
Be sure to consistently keep resupplying your food storage shelves by buying quality foods.
